The fourth entry in the “John Wick” franchise is the best film in the series since the original and one of the best action films of the decade. Director Chad Stahelski returns to the John Wick universe to direct a film that feels different from its predecessor thanks to its realistic action sequences and the choices made within its storytelling to create an incredible movie. Keanu Reeves is fantastic in reprising his role as John Wick and has delivered his best performance as the character since the first film. Donnie Yen is excellent as John Wick’s old friend, and considering his long career in martial arts movies, Yen gives Reeves a run for his money in terms of action and stunts. The supporting cast features a bunch of actors returning from other films and a collection of new ones to deliver outstanding performances in the supporting cast, which include Bill Skarsgård, Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, Clancy Brown, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins, and the late Lance Reddick. The film also establishes that at the age of 58, Keanu Reeves continues to do his stunts to create realistic action scenes and, by doing so, manages to rival Tom Cruise as one of the best action stars working today. Thanks to Chad Stahelski’s incredible direction, fantastic action scenes, an unforgettable story, and an excellent performance from both Keanu Reeves and Donnie Yen, “John Wick: Chapter 4” takes a franchise that started great and got better with each film stronger than the last and this one is the magnum opus of the franchise.
