Mortal Kombat: A fun fan service video game movie

Corey Quinto

Mortal Kombat review: The popular martial arts video game franchise returns to the big screen in a cheesy but fun way. Director Simon McQuoid gives us an epic time by staying faithful to the source material and injects a level of fun without having to take things so seriously. The fight scene contains outstanding choreography, and visuals look stunning on the big screen. Lewis Tan was excellent as the lead character. The supporting cast consisted of Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, and Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden. “Mortal Kombat” may not win anyone over who didn’t play the games but instead is a film made to satisfy fans of the Mortal Kombat series. Thanks to the fantastic fight scenes, visuals, performances by the ensemble cast, “Mortal Kombat” is a feel-good battle royale that will leave you wanting more, even if it’s a movie made for the fans of the series.
