Captain America: Brave New World: Anthony Mackie is fantastic as Captain America

The 35th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe may not be one of the best films in the franchise, but it has a ton of action and excellent performances that will keep you entertained from start to finish. Director Julius Onah goes heavy in the political commentary, which feels like a detour for Marvel but makes up for it thanks to the exciting action sequences and callbacks to the previous MCU movies that fans will recognize and enjoy. Anthony Mackie reprises his role after being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2014 as Sam Wilson, AKA Falcon. Still, this time, he takes on the mantle of Captain America. Taking over the role from Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie has a tall mountain to climb; luckily, he does a fantastic job at making Captain America his own, and it’s a great starting point for him to become a great Captain America. Following the passing of actor William Hurt in 2022, Harrison Ford takes over the role of President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. It may seem like a difficult job for someone to do in a role made famous by William Hurt. Still, Harrison Ford does an excellent job at making the character his interpretation while also showing that at 82 years old, he can still kick ass when it comes to the action scenes. The film also contains a great supporting cast of new characters as well as returning characters, which includes Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres AKA the new Falcon, Shira Haas as Ruth Bat-Seraph, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Xosha Roquemore as Leila Taylor, Giancarlo Esposito as Seth Voelker AKA Sidewinder, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, and Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns. “Captain America: Brave New World” may have gone a tad bit too much in the political commentary, but the film still manages to be a fun action film that will keep longtime fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe entertained, and that is thanks to Julius Onah’s excellent direction, entertaining action sequences, and fantastic performances from Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford.
