The newest comedy from director Elizabeth Banks is an absolute blast, much like Jaws but with a bear doing cocaine. The film is insane, funny, and suspenseful, demonstrating that this is a return to form for Elizabeth Banks as a director following the misfire of the 2019 reboot of “Charlie’s Angels.” O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Alden Ehrenreich perform excellently as the two main characters trying to stop the Cocaine Bear. The film also contains a great supporting cast consisting of Keri Russell, Christian Convery, Brooklynn Prince, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Margo Martindale, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Ray Liotta in one of his final roles following his death last year. Thanks to Elizabeth Banks’s direction, hilarious moments, and excellent performances by O’Shea Jackson Jr., Alden Ehrenreich, and Ray Liotta, “Cocaine Bear” is an over-the-top comedy that knows how to give you a good time at the movies and will have you laughing out loud from beginning to end.
