After directing the Oscar-winning film “All Quiet on the Western Front,” director Edward Berger follows up his success with another great mystery film. Telling an original story about how a group of Cardinals must elect a new pope following the death of the previous pope while also hiding secrets within each that could influence the vote, Edward Berger makes the audience question who is telling the truth and why they are the right choice to lead the church. Ralph Fiennes delivers a fantastic Oscar-worthy performance as the foremost Cardinal trying to uncover the secrets of the previous pope and the Cardinals trying to get elected. The film has a supporting cast delivering great performances, including Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, and Isabella Rossellini. Thanks to Edward Berger’s incredible direction and a fantastic Oscar-worthy performance by Ralph Fiennes, “Conclave” establishes Edward Berger as a visionary genius and delivers the best performance of Ralph Fiennes’s career.
