Based on the 1965 novel by Frank Herbert, this adaptation by Denis Villeneuve is the second attempt at bringing the classic Sci-Fi story to life after the 1984 version by David Lynch failed. The final product is a visually stunning epic that will transcend moviegoers with its breathtaking cinematography and the incredible premise that feels like a cross between "Star Wars" and "Lord of the Rings." The film also contains a fantastic cast giving outstanding performances, including Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem. "Dune" succeeds because Denis Villeneuve manages to take the original by David Lynch and update it into a beautiful epic filled with excellent visuals and interesting characters. Thanks to Denis Villeneuve's incredible direction, fantastic cinematography and visuals, and outstanding performances from the ensemble cast, "Dune" is one of the year's best films and is another excellent film from Denis Villeneuve. He is one of the best directors working today.
