Him: A sports horror movie that fumbles hard on the field

The latest sports horror film from director Justin Tipping fumbles the ball in every possible way. “Him” has a great premise on paper. Still, its execution is a soulless movie with no thrills, wooden performances from its ensemble cast, bad visual effects, shaky camerawork, and the horror elements offer no scares whatsoever. The screenplay contains many scenes that feel incomplete, making the story feel lazily rushed, given that the runtime of this movie is only ninety minutes. The one good thing to come out of this movie is that Marlon Wayans performs well as the star quarterback of a football team whose fandom and appearance look similar to the Las Vegas Raiders. “Him” could have been a great film about the dark side of professional football, but instead of a game-winning touchdown, the film fails on the 4th down line.
