Hocus Pocus 2: A fun predecessor to the original 1993 classic

Twenty-nine years after the first film's events, "Hocus Pocus 2" offers a lot of fun and nostalgia for fans who grew up with the first film in 1993. Despite having a plot that feels similar to the original, Director Anne Fletcher knows that this is a film that doesn't have to take itself too seriously and knows how to have fun. One massive positive this movie has over the original is that the special effects in this film look amazing, whereas the effects in the original look a little dated. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy reprise their iconic roles of the witch trio, the Sanderson sisters, and are an absolute blast in their significant return. The three witches in this new story are newcomers Whitney Peak, Belissa Escobedo, and Lilia Buckingham, who all perform well and hold their own against the three legends. Midler, Parker, and Najimy look like they never missed a beat stepping back into the roles that made them household names thanks to their incredible chemistry and impeccable comedic timing. Although the film relies heavily on nostalgic moments and has a plot similar to the first movie, "Hocus Pocus 2" is an enjoyable film for people who grew up with the original. This movie will give you a fun time this Halloween, thanks to Anne Fletcher's direction and excellent performances from actors Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, Whitney Peak, Belissa Escobedo, and Lilia Buckingham.
