James Wan is back with a crazy psychological thriller about depression, miscarriage, and the devil that feels very similar to the horror classic "Rosemary's Baby." "Malignant" doesn't have the typical scary elements that you see in horror movies but is a slow-paced movie that builds up to an epic climax that will make you think twice about the film you experienced for the first ninety minutes. Without giving anything away, the finale of this film is insane and incredible, and that is all thanks to James Wan's astonishing direction and storytelling. Annabelle Wallis gives a chilling and haunting performance that feels heavily similar to Mia Farrow's iconic performance from 1968's "Rosemary's Baby." Thanks to James Wan's incredible direction, heart-pounding and nail-biting ending, and a fantastic performance by Annabelle Wallis, "Malignant" may not be for everybody. Still, its subject matter and storytelling will have you thinking about this movie in such an exciting way, theorizing what the hidden messages of this film mean.
