Loosely inspired by the life and career of table tennis player Marty Reisman, the newest A24 film from director Josh Safdie is an adrenaline rush from start to finish and contains a career-defining performance from actor Timothée Chalamet. Using the same style he used for his previous film “Uncut Gems”, director Josh Safdie delivers another tense drama that will have your heart pounding the whole movie, hoping that everything goes right for Marty despite suffering one major setback after another. Timothée Chalamet delivers his best performance as table tennis player Marty Mauser, who wants to be the best player in the world. Still, his arrogance and immaturity cause him to face one major setback after another. Chalamet puts his all into this performance, portraying Marty as someone who must take responsibility for his actions and learn that success comes at a price, and he turns in an outstanding performance. The film also features a great supporting cast, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Tyler, the Creator, Abel Ferrara, Fran Drescher, and Mr. Wonderful himself, Kevin O’Leary. Thanks to Josh Safdie’s incredible direction and a fantastic performance from Timothée Chalamet, “Marty Supreme” is Timothée Chalamet’s best film of his career and a performance that could see him win an Academy Award in March.
