Serving as the ninth installment in the Predator franchise and the second time Dan Trachtenberg has directed an entry in the series since 2022's "Prey", "Predator: Badlands" is an excellent film that offers a fresh new look at the popular Sci-Fi series. Director Dan Trachtenberg has taken the franchise to a whole new level in the previous two installments. First, with "Prey," he took the series to early 1700s Native America, and now, with "Predator: Badlands," we get to see it all from the Predator's point of view — or, by their known species, the Yautja. Trachtenberg excellently parodies The Predators as the ultimate hunters, either hunting a rare creature and keeping what's left as a trophy or killing each other to become the leader of their clan. Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi delivers a fantastic performance as the Predator, who hunts a rare apex creature and discovers more about himself than he realizes. It was really cool to see the filmmakers show the audience that the Predator can be more than a bloodthirsty killer. Elle Fanning delivers an excellent performance as both the Predator's robotic servant and its antagonistic robotic sister. Thanks to Dan Trachtenberg's incredible direction, fantastic visual effects, and outstanding performances from Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi and Elle Fanning, "Predator: Badlands" provided a fresh new take on the series that is on a tremendous hot streak, and that is thanks to director Dan Trachtenberg, who began with "Prey" back in 2022.
