Primetime: Robert Pattinson delivers a fantastic performance as Chris Hansen
Nearly two years ago, I got to read the screenplay for a biographical drama titled “Primetime” based on Chris Hansen’s time at NBC working on the show “To Catch a Predator”. I thought the screenplay was fantastic when I read it, and upon watching it onscreen, everything I read made the final cut, and it was excellent. Director Lance Oppenheim did a fantastic job of showing how far Chris Hansen was willing to go to make “To Catch a Predator” the highest-rated television show. However, having an ego and failing to earn higher ratings from rival networks that were winning with stronger programs such as “Lost”, “Veronica Mars”, “Smallville”, “Survivor”, and “Dancing with the Stars”, Chris Hansen will soon discover the ultimate meaning of when you play with fire, you will get burned. Robert Pattinson delivers a fantastic performance as Chris Hansen. Mentally disappearing into the role, Pattinson is so unrecognizable that it feels like you're watching Chris Hansen and not Robert Pattinson playing a character. The film also features great performances from the supporting cast, including Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and Phoebe Bridgers. Thanks to Lance Oppenheim’s excellent direction and an incredible performance from Robert Pattinson, “Primetime” is a fantastic A24 biographical drama that, from start to finish, will have you on the edge of your seat (no pun intended).
