Inspired by pulp magazines and sci-fi classic "Journey to the Center of the Earth," the newest animated film from Walt Disney Studios is a fun adventure. The animation is impressive and visually stunning, making this one of Disney's most beautiful-looking films. Jake Gyllenhaal delivers a fantastic performance as the main character's voice. Playing a character who left behind being an explorer to become a farmer, only to eventually return to be the hero, his character embodies the core themes of family and self-discovery seen throughout the movie. Additionally, the supporting cast of Jaboukie Young-White, Gabrielle Union, Lucy Liu, and Dennis Quaid give great performances within the voice acting department. One thing worth noting is "Strange World" does have a story that feels unoriginal and a rather predictable plot. However, thanks to its gorgeous animation, excellent themes, and great performances, "Strange World" offers enough excitement to entertain kids even if it is not as strong as previous Disney animated films released within the past few years.
