As a follow-up to his award-winning "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" director Martin McDonagh brings back his "In Bruges" stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson to recapture the magic they started back in 2008 and achieve it with great success. McDonagh's screenplay and direction combine drama and comedy by telling a story about two people who used to be great friends but don't respect each other anymore and the effects that impact their lives. McDonagh works in many profound moments to understand both men's mindsets and offers moments of humor to make the story funny when necessary. Both elements balance each other perfectly. Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson perform fantastically as the two main characters and have great chemistry despite going up against each other. Also providing great performances in the supporting cast are Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan. Thanks to Martin McDonagh's incredible direction, screenplay and excellent themes of the loss of friendships, and fantastic performances from Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, "The Banshees of Inisherin" is a superb comedy-drama that once again showcases Martin McDonagh as one of the best directors working today.
