Serving as a sequel to the 2006 comedy classic, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” was 100% worth the 20-year wait. Director David Frankel returns from the first film to direct the second, achieving great success. Frankel manages to take a sequel that could have been so easy to replicate the original, and not only deliver a story just as good as the original but also show where the characters ended up twenty years after the events. The main cast from the first film, consisting of Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, all reprise their roles in the sequel, all delivering excellent performances. Reprising her Oscar-nominated performance as editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, Meryl Streep once again delivers an iconic performance as a character that, on paper, is so easy to hate. Still, Streep manages to make the character entertaining, so that we forget she is supposed to be a very devilish villain. We are also introduced to new characters, with the actors delivering great performances, including Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, and Kenneth Branagh. Thanks to David Frankel’s incredible direction and excellent performances from the cast, particularly Meryl Streep, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” was a sequel no one asked for, given the success of the first film. Still, after seeing this, I'm thankful we got a film that is hilarious, heartwarming, and just as good as the first.
