Twelve years ago, director David Robert Mitchell made the film “It Follows,” which critics called a masterpiece and a love letter to legendary filmmaker John Carpenter, and now he is back to direct an excellent movie that serves as a love letter to Steven Spielberg and “Jurassic Park”. Director David Robert Mitchell does a fantastic job of creating a world that makes you believe everything is nice and civil at first, then flips it right under your nose, transforming the film into a survival-of-the-fittest story in a 1980s prehistoric era. Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor deliver excellent performances as a married couple on the verge of separation, transported back in time, and forced to protect their children from prehistoric dinosaurs hunting them down. Thanks to David Robert Mitchell’s fantastic direction and the excellent performances from Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, “The End of Oak Street” is a tense thrill ride from start to finish and a great love letter to legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg and the “Jurassic Park” franchise.
