The Fantastic Four: First Steps: The first Marvel family finally gets a Fantastic Movie

They say that third time's a charm, but in this case, fourth time's a charm, and thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we finally have a great Fantastic Four movie. The 37th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe kicks off phase 6 with a film about the first Marvel family and finally gives us the perfect movie they deserve. After creating the Emmy-winning series "WandaVision," director Matt Shakman uses the elements of the 1960s that he used for that show to create a futuristic 1960s that not only represents the era but also the characters as a whole. The Fantastic Four were created in 1961 by legendary comic book artist Jack Kirby, who wrote them to be the first superhero family while also reflecting on significant events of the 1960s. Just like in the decade they were created, the film draws interesting parallels to that era, which includes the space race, President John F. Kennedy bringing the country together, and the rise of Science Fiction. The film also has a dark parallel to the Cuban Missile Crisis because of Galactus' plan to destroy the Earth and the fears and anxiety of people believing the end of the world is coming. The Fantastic Four, consisting of Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm / Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm / The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm / Human Torch, all deliver fantastic performances in this film. Not only were these four made for these roles, but they all have great chemistry with each other, which the previous live-action versions lacked. The supporting cast, consisting of Natasha Lyonne as Rachel Rozman, Paul Walter Hauser as Harvey Elder / Mole Man, Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal / Silver Surfer, and Ralph Ineson as Galactus, all deliver outstanding performances in this movie. Thanks to Matt Shakman's incredible direction, amazing visual effects, and fantastic performances from Pascal, Kirby, Moss-Bachrach, and Quinn, "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" finally gives us the Fantastic Four we've been waiting to see for so long and delivers an excellent tie in to "Avengers: Doomsday" which will be heading to theater in December 2026.
