Visionary filmmaker Wes Anderson returns with an anthology film about three different storylines about newspaper writers crafting the final story of their careers. Each of the three stories is told in styles ranging from funny, serious, and intelligent to providing artistic visions such as animation and abstract art. The film also contains an incredible ensemble cast. The standouts in this movie are Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Benicio del Toro, Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet, and Jeffrey Wright. The only negatives I had with this movie were that despite containing funny moments, not every joke works, and the story is tough to follow. “The French Dispatch” is a good comedy for people who love art and the celebrated work from the famous writers of the 20th century. Thanks to Wes Anderson’s artistic direction and great performances from the entire ensemble cast, “The French Dispatch” is like watching an artist crafting a gorgeous painting, and the finished product known as “The French Dispatch” belongs in the cinemas for everyone to witness in its outstanding beauty.
