Serving as a continuation of the Disney+ television series “The Mandalorian”, the newest film in the Star Wars Saga may come off as a long, extended episode of the TV show, but the film manages to be a fun thrill ride from start to finish. Jon Favreau, who also created “The Mandalorian,” returns to direct the film. While his direction towards the second half may come off as unfocused, the majority of his direction is a fun, action-packed adventure as well as a personal connection between father and son. Pedro Pascal reprises his role as Din Djarin, AKA The Mandalorian, delivers another excellent performance, and has great chemistry with Grogu. Jeremy Allen White delivers a great performance as Rotta the Hutt, who is the son of crime lord Jabba the Hutt. White portrays Rotta as a man trying to break free from the shadow of his notorious father, showing that there are good Hutts in the galaxy, even as they are among the most villainous aliens in the Star Wars universe. Other actors that appear in this movie and deliver great performances include Jonny Coyne as Lord Janu, Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward, Martin Scorsese as Hugo Durant, and Steve Blum reprising his role of Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios from “Star Wars Rebels”. “The Mandalorian and Grogu” may not be the greatest Star Wars film of all time. Still, it is the most entertaining Star Wars film since “Solo: A Star Wars Story” thanks to Jon Favreau’s great direction and an excellent performance from Pedro Pascal.
