The Sheep Detectives: One of the funniest comedies of the year

Based on the novel “Three Bags Full”, the latest mystery-comedy from director Kyle Balda, on paper looks like a silly, childish film, but in execution is a smart, hilarious comedy. The film may rely too much on childlike humor and be predictable at times, but it doesn’t change the fact that the idea of a herd of sheep trying to solve a mystery is a genius premise, and the mature jokes are so strong that they overpower the childlike jokes. The film’s ensemble cast is a combination of live-action characters and actors providing the voices of the sheep, all delivering excellent performances, which include Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine, Molly Gordon, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O’Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, Brett Goldstein, Hong Chau, and Emma Thompson. Thanks to Kyle Balda’s excellent direction and the ensemble cast's incredible performances. “The Sheep Detectives” is the exact opposite of being a lamb sent to the slaughter and instead manages to be one of the funniest comedies of the year.
