Toy Story 5: The fifth installment of the Toy Story franchise is a masterpiece

The fifth installment in the popular Pixar franchise, “Toy Story 5,” once again delivers the heart and humor to a series that should’ve ended two movies ago. Still, the films manage to offer new insights into maturity and how the passage of time reveals how the toys must adapt to a new era of technology. What makes “Toy Story 5” great is that we live in a world where we’ve become so addicted to our electronic devices that playing with toys has become a thing of the past, and the film does an excellent job of showing that from the toys' point of view. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen once again reprise their roles as the voices of Woody and Buzz Lightyear and not only deliver excellent performances but also have the chemistry they’ve had for the past thirty years, which is once again fantastic. Joan Cusack reprises her role as Jessie, and, in addition to delivering another great performance, she is considered the main character in this film. Continuing the story built in “Toy Story 2,” the film delves deeper into Jessie as a character, revealing more about why she is who she is and why she feels the way she does about technology taking over the toys. The film also introduces the characters Lilypad and Smarty Pants, both voiced by Greta Lee and Conan O’Brien, who deliver great performances. Thanks to the fantastic animation, emotional storytelling, and incredible performances from Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack, “Toy Story 5” is an excellent animated film that showcases the best of both Pixar Animation and the “Toy Story” franchise by being funny, heartbreaking, and tackling themes that are one hundred percent relatable to both kids and adults.
