Wildwood: A spectacular movie that is also the best animated film of the year
Based on the 2011 fantasy novel of the same name, the latest animated film from Laika Studios and director Travis Knight is not just the best animated film of the year but is also the best film from Laika Studios. The stop-motion animation was fantastic, the storytelling was unforgettable, and the themes of family, growing up, and letting go added so much emotional depth. The film also features excellent performances from the ensemble cast, including Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Carey Mulligan, Richard E. Grant, Awkwafina, Amandla Stenberg, Tom Waits, Charlie Day, Angela Bassett, and Mahershala Ali. Thanks to the spectacular animation, emotional themes, and fantastic performances from the ensemble cast, “Wildwood” is not only the best animated film of the year, but it’s a film that sends a powerful message that it may be difficult to let go of the past, but once the time is right, you will be strong enough to accept it and look ahead to a brighter future.
