In 2019, South Korean director Bong Joon-ho made the film “Parasite,” a worldwide phenomenon, and became the first foreign language film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. Six years later, Bong Joon-ho returns to direct a visually stunning masterpiece about exploring a whole new world, and just like one of his previous films, “Snowpiercer,” uses political themes that challenge the audience to see if the main protagonist can accomplish his goals by rebelling against the leadership that is taking his group for granted. Robert Pattinson delivers a fantastic performance as the title character and his clone. Pattinson once again proves that he is one of the best actors of his generation by coming off as believable as two versions of himself and achieving this job tremendously. The film also has a great supporting cast, including Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. While not as good as “Parasite,” “Mickey 17” is a fantastic film that demonstrates Bong Joon-ho’s skills as a visionary genius, and that is thanks to his incredible direction, amazing visual effects, and an excellent lead performance by Robert Pattinson.
